Has there ever been a more delectable Intergalactic Space Babe than Ornella Muti? And yet, 31 years after starring as Princess Aura in Mike Hodge’s ‘too camp-and-beyonnnnnd’ take on ‘Flash Gordon’, she’s hardly rippled the English speaking movie firmament.

Here’s a brief Q&A at which gives some of the reasons why. And here’s an even briefer upsum: love, family, friends, living in Italy.

But, for a brief moment, Ornella Muti ruled as the Princess of Intergalactic Space Babes. And for that I thank you Mrs. Muti, and I wish you the happiest of very, very happy birthdays.

I still can’t quite get my head around the fact that Mike Hodges – the man who gave us ‘Get Carter’ (no, not the one with Sly Stallone, the one of the best movies ever made one) – directed this stuff. But I’m so, so glad he did.
